Some Days, It’s Just the Beginning

Twenty years ago, I kissed a handsome stranger I saw across the room at a holiday party and then shared an elevator with.

The four years that followed were not your typical love story.  In fact, it would be almost that long before I truly understood I was living my own love story at all.

In those years, I would have told you I was unlucky in love.  But the die had been cast and the universe was working her magic, even though I didn’t know it.

Four years from that fateful night, almost to the date and seemingly out of nowhere, we were engaged.

Ten years later, we were preparing to celebrate our first family Christmas with our son.

Twenty years later, we have seen each other through the dark times and the light and are living the fullest and bravest lives we ever have.

As we hiked as a family this morning, in our happiest place that we have intentionally made a bigger part of our lives together, we noticed a bountiful burst of mistletoe hanging from the tree branches above us.  Out in the wild.  Out of nowhere.  Like the universe was winking at us…

Some days, we don’t know that what is transpiring is the beginning of something bigger.  Perhaps every day, this is true in some way.

So, as you go about your day, I extend to you an invitation to wonder – what seeds of magic are being planted today?
