I find I’ve been thinking a lot about boxes.
The boxes we find ourselves in. The boxes we put ourselves in. The boxes our world puts us in. Not to mention, the boxes of the shoulds. Of identity. The boxes of how we’ve always seen ourselves or thought we had to be. The boxes of limiting beliefs or expectations. The boxes of other people’s opinions and the threat of judgment (or worse) when those boxes are not meticulously maintained, image not exactingly managed. The boxes created by difficult situations. Or the things we use to dim or numb the edges of the boxes. Even just the boxes of our offices, our computers, our inboxes.
I am noticing that a core theme in the work I do with Some Days is helping people break out of those boxes. Finding the keys within themselves to unlock possibility, expansion and intuition. Often, beyond what they ever imagined possible.
While there are many tools that can be helpful, some days, to think outside the box, we have to step outside the box. Often, literally.
It can be so helpful to change-up our environment. Call-in different perspectives. Whether it’s our physical surroundings, the people we surround ourselves with, the voices we let influence us, even our daily or weekly routine.
That’s one of the reasons my retreats and me-treats are such a powerful part of the integrated life and leadership coaching work that I do. It’s something I experienced going to Idyllwild myself and it’s something I share with others there.
Some days, it’s hard to see the unlock when you’re in it. And stepping away can create the space, distance and quiet to hear what is true. To work with what arises when you hear it. To take tangible, intentional steps towards where it wants to lead you. Towards a life that looks more like the one you long for. Towards what’s possible.
Another thing worth noting is, when we are in the box, we tend to think we are the only one in a box. We often don’t even realize we’re in a box. And we can’t see outside of it. But, if we could, we would see so many others in similar constraints. I can’t count the number of times I have heard how powerful it is to realize we’re not alone in it.
Sadly, too, there are the numerous times I’ve heard from others that they were struggling under a tight lid in periods in my life when I was also similarly stuck. I feel such loss when I think about how we could’ve been there for each other if we could’ve only found our way to seeing outside of our boxes. To be real. To be vulnerable. To be open.
This is where self-compassion is so important. Because, of course, when we’re in a box, it can often be challenging to find the space for the work of noticing we’re in the box, let alone unboxing. And it’s important that we don’t create more boxes by being unkind to ourselves about that.
At the same time, we can cultivate spaciousness. With intention.
And, the magic thing is, creating the space in the first place is actually so much of the work. Drawing the boundaries we need to invest in ourselves. Believing we are worth investing in. These things in and of themselves are a huge part of the journey and the transformation available in it.
At the same time, I also hear a lot from people who have a hard time being alone with their thoughts, making space the last thing they are likely to seek. For some, it is the most terrifying thing. And, I so get it. I have been there at different times in my life. I have also come to learn that space with my thoughts and reflections is where so much power and possibility lie. Also, healing, intuition, expansion and understanding.
One of the things I hear about the spaces I create that I am proudest of is I make braving that vulnerability feel safe and possible. With a mix of support and space. So there’s time on your own, but you are never alone. Connection but not crowding.
I am intentional about seeking to give people the depth available one-on-one or in solitude with the benefits of the support and connection of a group. It’s about intimate, spacious time to drift away and come back together. Time to dip your toe in and then swim back to the wall.
I have designed this year’s Some Days, Autumn Abundance fall retreat with all of this deeply in mind.
I believe we dance with the edges of our comfort zone so we can dance past the edges of our comfort zone. Expand our comfort zone. Step outside the box. And, in doing so, expand what’s possible. Letting go of what we need to, and harvesting all of the fruit from our journey. And there is no time like fall for this kind of exploration.

Picture this. The sun has set on summer, and you are entering the golden hour of the year. A beautiful time to look back, but also to begin to look forward. So much has happened. Perhaps it feels like lifetimes. Whatever it is, it’s been full.
Perhaps, so full that there hasn’t really been space to process it all. Space to simmer. Space to reflect. Perhaps there hasn’t really been space for yourself. Your needs. Your growth. Your dreams.
Or, perhaps there has. And you have started to notice that whenever you give yourself time and spaciousness, everything just seems better. The parts fit together better. You find more flow and ease. You experience more joy and satisfaction.
Whatever the year has brought thus far, you find yourself in amber honey late September and you are winding your way up a picturesque mountain road. Breathtaking in its raw beauty and power. The leaves of the trees all around you are starting to change. Each corner you turn, you feel a releasing. Some of the heaviness falling away. Each breath feels a bit fuller as you look out and see the thousands of pine trees across the valleys and the glistening calm of the lake off in the distance.
As you near your destination, you see the charming Hallmark town of Idyllwild, perhaps for the first time or perhaps it wakes a familiar memory. Maybe you notice the sign on the way in, introducing it as the home of Adventure, Music, Art and Harmony. And, you wonder – What possibility does that hold for me?
You take it in as you savor the energy of the enchanted forest that surrounds you now. Each tree and its ancient wisdom. The quiet strength of the mountains rising all around. With a glowy gratitude, you ground yourself in this moment.
You’ve arrived. And it is just the beginning…

I believe intentional investments in ourselves, our dreams and our well-being are essential for creating the virtuous cycles we long for in our lives. Where all of the different parts of our selves and our lives nurture and sustain one another. And that this is such a powerful way that we can support our intentional pursuit of big dreams. Something I am passionate about, not only for myself but for others.
For this reason, Some Days retreats are not your typical weekend getaway (though, I wholly endorse those too!). They are more like an executive strategy offsite for your soul. Often, a compassionate container for transformation. Or coming home to yourself. I am coming to think of them as living poetry and immersive, embodied, experiential coaching in service of grounded clarity, calm, confidence, intuition and your Some Day.
Expect to gain learnings and tools. Not in the sense of intellectually understanding or a formal “lesson plan.” Rather, in the sense of a thoughtfully curated and guided living into the learnings, unlocks and wisdom that is available when we cultivate intentional space and reflect. All with a focused guide and inspiration throughout.
In the words of a past retreat participant:
“Libby is a truly gifted host and coach. From the moment our retreat began, she made everyone feel welcome and at ease, and she had a remarkable way of connecting us- to nature, to each other, and most importantly, to ourselves. She designed each day with such intention; nothing felt accidental, yet nothing felt forced. Perhaps most admirably, she is an incredible container. She impressively held space for all of our hopes, dreams, and challenges with such warmth, and then intuitively guided us with strategic insight that met each person exactly where they were. That combination of deep presence paired with sharp, grounded wisdom — was wildly empowering. I am so grateful for my time with Libby on this retreat. I left both honoring myself and deeply inspired. I wholeheartedly recommend her and Some Days without reservation.”
“Autumn Abundance gave me the opportunity to pause and turn inward in a beautiful mountain setting that is equal parts magical and peaceful. Libby designed every element to perfection (including touches like homemade meals and gifting us hand painted journals), and it was the perfect mix of community and alone time. The beautiful thing about a pause is we get the opportunity away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to notice and to breathe and to listen to our inner voice. We were all going through personal and professional changes, which beautifully coincided with the change of seasons and full moon. The retreat was an opportunity to remind me that there is strength in navigating the unknown, and how healing it can be to immerse ourselves in nature. It’s only when we set aside this time in this way that we can tune into our higher selves. The retreat was the perfect mix of rituals and downtime to allow just that. As a coach, Libby is the true embodiment of her gifts. She provides loving support, inspiration, and gentle – yet powerful – encouragement to step into one’s power. She’s become a trusted friend and I’m so grateful to have her as part of my life’s journey.”
Ahead of our time, we will meet one-on-one for a coaching session to clarify what feels most alive for you going into the retreat and support you in bringing that clarity to your time to get the most out of it. I will hold those sessions with the seasonal energy, as I intuitively craft a retreat customized to you and the rest of our group and the moment we find ourselves in.
After the retreat, you will have the option to linger. It’s always struck me how we tend to go from one thing to the next and, particularly with deep work of this nature, space to simmer and integrate is so valuable. So, I’ve intentionally crafted this year’s Some Days, Autumn Abundance with customizable me-treat space built in for that purpose. Stay a few hours or stay until Monday morning. Spaciousness is the intention. How that looks and feels best for you is your vision to create.
As a participant in Some Days, Autumn Abundance, you also receive a special 1:1 rate of 20% off for any one-on-one sessions purchased from the time of registration through the fall season (usable within 12 months of purchase, the thinking being you can use the retreat to create a year of ongoing support as a customized package or just use as you like from the time you register for whatever you’re sitting with, integration afterwards, or whatever else you wish).

When I am asked who this work is intended for, I explain I think of my work with Some Days as being for people who want to live fully and bravely. Often, that comes with some kind of a longing or a seeking for something more or different than what they’re experiencing today. And whatever that is, is what I think of as the big dream or the Some Day (we tend to have lots of these in our lives, which I think is part of the fun).
I talk more about this here, but there are so many ways this can show up across all dimensions of our lives – working to advance in our career, finding ways to align purpose, values and impact while doing that or otherwise, leaning into leadership and experience that feels authentically you, defining “success” on your terms, moving through stuckness and/or other things that can get in the way of our Some Day, setting and achieving big goals in a way that feels nourishing and rewarding, being more present in our lives and with our loved ones, being more comfortable in our own skin, being brave and bold in pursuit of a life that looks more like the one we long to live, and even getting clear on what that is. So many things.
What always comes to mind for me is “Live it all” and “Live it as the gift.” I want to leave it all on the field and really experience and appreciate it while I do, even when it’s hard. And that’s where I tend to see the resonance.
