The Perch: The Long View (Registration)

As I took a reflective walk to start my day on Thursday morning, I was deep in ongoing thought about how to meet this moment in the world and in my life when the flap of a pair of mystical black wings and the call of crows drew my attention to the treetop just ahead. It landed on a clear branch on which a majestic, sun-drenched red-tailed hawk perched, steady and calm, looking out towards the sparkling bay a short distance below.

As I explored the meaning of this image, I was met with affirmation after affirmation of what I intuitively knew right away.

This was a sign. A quiet lesson.

So many of us are carrying hard questions right now:

How do we act when it all feels so big? Or we’re not sure how?

How do we speak when silence feels encouraged?

How do we stay human, connected, and brave in the middle of all this?

How do we harness hope?

This past week, when a group of us gathered to share resources and take action side by side, I noticed something important. A consistent theme in my work and in my life: The power of intentional gatherings. Spaces where people come together, not to perform or posture, but to be real, think clearly and deeply, support one another, and turn care and contemplation into impact.

I keep returning to the image of that hawk: clarity, courage, purpose, vision, perspective. And the crows: many voices, gathered, energized, no longer alone. And the ways in which we have the opportunity to hold both.

A few paths of deep contemplation and ideation I’ve been walking for a while converged with clarity and The Perch: The Long View began to come into focus, then form.

The Perch is a virtual weekly gathering space for people who care about purpose, impact, and shaping a better future to hold the long view together. We’ll come together to reflect, support one another, share inspiration and resources, and take meaningful, sustainable and consistent action — civic and otherwise — toward the future we want to create, while staying grounded and human. Remembering we don’t have to do this alone. And, in fact, we’re stronger together.

Similar to the space I held this week, it will be free, informal, imperfect, heart-led and supportive of intentional, ongoing action towards a life and a world more like the one we want to create. A clear perch, open hearts, with space for many voices and paths toward impact.

If you’re longing for a place that is calm, courageous, and collective, I’d love for you to join us.

You don’t have to join every week or for the whole hour. Invitation, not expectation.
